Job description
We’re looking for an experienced Webmaster (aka website design and maintenance pro), to help us 10x the Cognician Universe through a world-class website that matches our world-class product!
Over the last 13 years Cognician has built a reputation for delivering exceptional custom-built behavior change programs to Fortune 1000 clients. And now we have a complimentary arm of our business having developed ready-to-go behavior change programs, which our clients can roll out at speed, at scale, and at lower cost, but without compromising on the impact we’re known for: measurable change in 30 days or less. And you, as our primary all-things-web evangelist, will help us keep building; communicating our vision, mission and value through our primary touch point with the world – our website!
What experience do you have?
We’re looking for someone who has a proven track record in:
- Creating and maintaining websites of beauty and significance
- SEO optimization and monitoring
- Website security and compliance implementation
- Digital brand strategy and articulation
You’ve worked for a minimum of 5 years in a Web Design or Master role doing exactly the above.
Here’s your familiar wheelhouse:
Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll elevate our digital presence by building up and out the Cognician website. You’ll create your very best work through visually appealing and user-friendly website design and development. No browser incompatibility for you!
You’ll pioneer this role with our burgeoning content marketing strategy and proactively suggest ways our digital presence can support it's goals. Working closely with the leadership team you’ll understand and ultimately translate their vision.
Website = Brand Identity, that’s an equation you’ll regularly solve, managing web design projects from conception to completion. And that means collaborating with the broader Cognician team to ensure consistency in Cognician’s visual storytelling across all digital platforms.
You’ll be expected to apply best practices in UX/UI to enhance website usability and engagement, conducting user research with usability testing to gather feedback and make data-driven design decisions.
SEO Optimization, Website Monitoring and Analytics and QA are on your essentials check-box list!
As you grow our digital presence, you’re making sure to grow too! You’ll stay up-to-date with the latest web design trends and technologies and continuously develop skills in relevant programming languages, design software, and tools.
And you’re our best defence! Because you’ll ensure all our web designs not only comply with compliance legal standards but they’re rock-solid-secure against potential cyberthreats.
Why do you want this job over another?
We’re looking for someone who finds the work we do at Cognician to be personally meaningful. Our purpose is to create a world in which current ways of working pose no barrier to rapid transformation, and all employees feel empowered to activate new, productive behaviors for themselves, their team and their organization. And your work, your contribution, will be a daily expression of this.
How do you know this job is for you?
Here are some things that folks might have said or observed about you, or that you might believe are true about yourself:
You’re a fantastic listener. You ask great questions.
You’ve considered getting QA as your next tattoo – KIDDING, but Quality assurance is BIG for you.
Your listening skills are only outmatched by your eye for design and detail.
You’re a results driver and completely comfortable at CSuite level.
You’re a disciplined creative who thrives on accountability and from time to time, you might forget that you’re not actually a Project Manager – but yes, you love it thaaaat much!
Also, think about the extent to which these statements apply to you:
You get stuff done. Always. On time or before. The words - create, maintain, monitor, and continuously improve are words to live by.
You’re succinct. You’re good at finding simple ways to express yourself.
You seek out the opinions and support of others.
SEO optimization is what you do for fun and analyzing website performance is an activity that sparks joy!
You’re resilient, taking curveballs, setbacks, disappointment and stress in your stride.
A typical day
[Before you kick off, we hope you’ve had a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast, and perhaps a walk, a cycle, or a run, with lots of fresh air. We value wellbeing, and it starts with how you organise your day.]
Morning
- You dive into your day catching up on the exciting briefs that have landed in your Asana inbox.
- Once you’ve got a feel for the task to-dos and you know your priority list you switch to website health check mode.
- You notice an animation seems to have stalled. You nip it! Well done you!
- There’s a security update you need to manage. You tee things up and get to it!
- Wow! Things are off to a great start!
- Next up, coffee connect with the BD team (it’s bound to be a triple shot grande). You like this meeting - you get to talk, collateral posts and website activity.
- A quick breather and you’re back at your Mac. You’ve had to rejig your schedule a little because the update presented something unexpected but it won’t be long before you’re back on track.
Early afternoon
- YAY! It’s time to implement the accessibility work you’ve been planning. You’ve been doing research on standards and you’re really keen to see how the changes enhance mobile responsiveness.
- You schedule a call with the People team to get the latest events photos to upload
- You take a walk before lunch, because as much as you LOVE implementing innovations you value your wellbeing!
Late afternoon
- Call with Barry, to review Asana to-do's, progress and priorities. And you want to share some website activity insights that you think will inform the next page build.
- Prep for the next day:)
Most days

- Improving Careers and People pages
- Keeping the Cognician website up to date both aesthetically, functionally and technically – particularly from a cybersecurity perspective

- We’re a “Top Culture Company”. We have an award to prove it:)
- We value Questioning, Integrity, Excellence, Action, Teamwork, Empathy, People, and Wellbeing. We don’t expect you to recite the definitions, or even remember the list. We hire people who share our values, though.
- We know what it means to balance family and work life – catch you on the next school run.
- We have quarterly internal awards, which we call Mind, Heart and Hands.
