Merging two functions with different ways of working requires learning experiences that enable individuals to understand the benefits of the merge and how to operate within the new function. We used this approach when a multinational materials science company approached us to help with the union of their change management and project management divisions. Project management leaders completed a 30-day challenge program on Cognician's employee activation platform to get to grips with the capabilities of change managers and learn how to advocate for including change managers in project lifecycles. Each bite-sized challenge activated project management leaders to appreciate the perspectives of change managers and help them feel heard and confident in the abilities of their new leaders. The program resulted in a 97% increase in project management leaders who were confident in having thoughtful and informed discussions about change management. And there was a 110% increase in users who felt very confident explaining the value of including change management in programs and projects.
