Accessibility Statement

Last updated 16 September 2022

Cognician is committed to providing all users with a fully accessible learning experience. We make every effort to ensure that our platform and programs can be used by everyone.

Standards

We aim to meet Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Reviews

We undertake a yearly accessibility audit to keep measuring our platform against the technical standard of WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We assess and document any issues identified during this audit and address these within a reasonable period.

Exceptions

We meet accessibility standards for elements we have created and control. The general platform components used across all programs are all compliant. So, for the most part, Cognician meets WCAG Level AA compliance, which means that people with disabilities are able to use the platform. But it's important to note a few factors that may hinder full compliance of some specific programs, from time to time:

  1. Clients decide WCAG compliance for programs

Each client determines the compliance status of individual programs on our platform. In the early stages of a new program design, we commit to discussing WCAG compliance with new clients. But the accessibility of individual programs is in large part determined by clients and designed according to their organization's needs and internal WCAG standards.
  2. Legacy program compliance issues

As of December 2021, all new programs added to the Cognician platform are WCAG compliant. Programs created before December 2021 may not include alt text and some features may not be fully accessible. In the case of legacy programs being redeployed, we work with clients to make these programs more accessible on a case-by-case basis.

  3. Third-party content

Some content may be hosted by third parties outside of the Cognician platform. Content-level conformance may need to be assessed in the following cases:
